About Manufactured Homes

Manufactured homes are not temporary structures. They are permanent homes built in a controlled factory environment using many of the same materials found in traditional site-built houses, including wood framing, insulation, drywall, roofing materials, plumbing systems, and electrical systems.

Unlike site-built homes, which are constructed outdoors and exposed to weather during the building process, manufactured homes are assembled indoors under strict quality-control procedures. Each home is built to the federal HUD Code, which establishes standards for design, construction, durability, energy efficiency, fire safety, and structural integrity.

After construction, the home is transported to its home site, professionally installed, and connected to utilities. Once installed, manufactured homes provide the same everyday comforts as any other house, including full kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, heating and cooling systems, and modern amenities.
